“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV
A ruined city without walls cannot protect itself, and it cannot give aid to others. The same is true for a man. Without self-control or discipline, a man is left exposed and susceptible to the attacks of the enemy. He cannot serve others to his full God-given potential. V. Raymond Edman said, “We need the rugged strength of Christian character that can come only from discipline.
With the way our training is designed at ALERT, young men have an incredible opportunity to develop strong discipline in their lives throughout their time here. Basic Training forms the foundation, and then in 2nd and 3rd Phase, the men continue to build habits of discipline. We don’t desire discipline for its own sake, but rather for the purpose of Godliness and Christian character (1 Timothy 4:7).
Pray that God would cultivate self-control and discipline in the lives of our students through the power of His Holy Spirit!
