With eagerness to honor the men and women who faithfully served our country, we would like to invite all of our veterans, active military, law enforcement and emergency services personnel to our annual Veterans Banquet and Patriotic Concert at the International ALERT Academy, Thursday, November  8 at 6:30 PM. Our choir will also be singing the Armed Forces Medley in honor of each of those representing their branch of the military. There is no cost to attend and immediate family members are welcome.

All veterans and military service members—along with their families—are also invited to our Veterans Conference, November 8–10, at no cost.*  You’ve given so much, and we’d be honored to give something back. This conference will commence with the Veterans Banquet and Concert and will continue through the weekend, concluding Saturday evening, November 10. Guests will also have the opportunity to join us for ALERT’s Unit 60 Advancement Ceremony. *Please note that meals and lodging are not included, but are available for reservation if desired. We’d love to have you join us!

Chaplain Tom Burch

Tom Burch served our country in an Army Air Defense Artillery Unit during the Vietnam War and is a member of the DAV.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and has pastored churches in Missouri, Kansas, and Alaska.  He has spent the last 18 years at the International ALERT Academy, currently serving as Chaplain to the ALERT men.  He has also been involved in various evangelism outreaches, including preparing and distributing Gospel literature to overseas and stateside missionaries.  Chaplain Burch is married to Jane, and has three children, one of which is active in the U.S. Army. His goal in life is to please God and have Him say, “Well done!” at the end of his journey.

A Personal Invitation

Dr. J. David Rogers

LCDR J. David Rogers, USNR was commissioned as a Navy intelligence officer in 1984, following officer training with the Marine Corps in 1974-76. His formal education includes a bachelor’s degree in geology and geophysics and masters and doctorate degrees in civil and geological engineering. He is the recipient of 16 decorations and NAO wings. During his highly celebrated military career, Rogers traveled the world solving engineering problems. He then taught engineering at the University of California-Berkeley before accepting an endowed chair in geological engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He teaches a courses on creativity and problem solving for the U.S. Department of Defense and other corporate clients of the university.


Dr. Steve Scheibner

Dr. Steve Scheibner is currently a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and a First Officer for American Airlines. Steve recently retired as Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Topsham, Maine to become the President of Characterhealth Corporation, a non-profit conference ministry aimed at equipping parents to train the next generation of character-healthy leaders. As an airline pilot, Steve was scheduled to fly AA Flight 11 on September 11, 2001. Through a divine set of circumstances however, a rare last-minute substitution meant someone else would take his place. Steve and his wife Megan now teach marriage, parenting, and discipleship classes around the world.
