“The excitement never ends!”
Dear ALERT men,
As I reflect on the time I’ve been at ALERT, I often wonder how you are and how your time at ALERT has affected your decisions and performance in life. I have been encouraged by the glimpses I have seen of you serving God and others. I have also been thinking of different ones of you who have gone into the military service and I would like to reconnect with you.
ALERT is opening up an opportunity that I think will help us to reconnect. I am privileged to announce the ALERT Veteran’s Conference to be held in conjunction with ALERT’s annual Veteran’s Banquet/Concert and mile-marker Unit 60’s Advancement. The conference will be held this November 8–10 here at the International ALERT Academy. The event will begin with Thursday evening’s banquet/concert, includes Friday’s Unit 60 activities, and concludes on Saturday night. This conference is being offered free of charge to all active duty military and veterans in honor of your service to our country. We want to focus on ALERT military, past & present, and their spouses. There are rates for housing and meals on campus for those of you coming from out of town.
Several of you will remember my message to you focused on the question, “What were you created for?” It is my desire that you are depending on the Lord on a daily basis and striving to please Him as you go through life. It is our desire for this conference to help us refocus on this goal, so wherever you are in your walk with God, please join us!
Dr. J. David Rogers and Dr. Steve Schiebner will be the keynote speakers along with others. This conference is geared to address the needs and issues pertinent to ALERT men, military members, veterans, and their spouses. There will be general and breakout sessions as well as various activities for all. Come for a weekend of spiritual refreshment and reconnecting.
My prayer for you has been and continues to be, “Walk with God!”
Chaplain Tom Burch
P.S. We would also like to upgrade our military wall in the dining room. Please send us a picture of you in your military uniform, your branch, dates of service, countries/posts of service, and MOS(s) as well as anything else you would like to share with other.
P.PS. If you cannot make it to this conference, please make plans to join us for ALERT’s 25th anniversary in February.
