Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden to work and serve God. In the millennia since then, our work as humans has changed from tending a garden to being ministers of the Gospel. We seek, as Paul did in Colossians 1:24-29, to labor through Christ’s strength to serve Christ’s church and bring its members closer to God, so that they may glorify him and make Him known. We all have the same calling. But because of God’s unique giftings in our lives, our opportunities will look very different from each other. One may glorify God through teaching and instruction, and another through upright and faithful service as they carry out their duty. What are the opportunities to serve God in each of our lives? I pray we can all ask that question, see our opportunity to serve as Christ’s laborers, and bring Him glory today.
