Doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t want to, requires discipline. Often I find myself asking the never-ending question “do I have to get up now?” every morning. Even something as simple as waking up on time every morning can require a lot of discipline. Here at ALERT, we try to teach the men lessons in discipline through the various activities of the day like PT, regularly scheduled prayer time, and Bible study. With every consecutive disciplined choice, a habit gets built.
Proverbs 12:1 says “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid” (ESV). As you go through the rest of your week, wherever you are, remember that sometimes doing what needs to be done is hard, but it is the right thing, and through it you will gain discipline!
